I'm not too scared of a virtual fall. :D I get my ass kicked on a regular basis by published writers on another site I frequent. :D

But if you start telling me that you saw the head of your dead grandfather pop out of the table I'm gonna tell you to lay off the happy pills and treat the story as if it were a hallucination. I can't stress this enough: You are allowed to take artistic liberties with the stiry, but you are not allowed to straight out invent aspects of it. Fantasy is something that isn't real. Everything in this must be real. Hell, you can mix and match from your life, add people together, take things away, whatever, but I want it written from your life.

It obviously means something to you, and I have no idea what it is. I think that's what I find ambiguous. I don't understand what happened, why it happened, or why you wrote it. Therefore I don't really think I understand anything about it, and find it ambiguous ;)

What is the story actually about?? None of that seems to have gotten across to me. I have no idea if it immediately makes sense in the minds of others, I just.. found no reason for anything, including why it was written. And instead of assuming that you just have no reason, I'm assuming the story is ambiguous ;)

Hopefully your story can keep its integrity once it's down to 800? (Personally, I would have set the limit at 1000 words, but what can you do? It does have to compete with poetry, which is short...)

2006-05-28 [Veltzeh]: Yeah well, I write laboratory report style anyway... heavily condensed and full of boring but essential info. XD I can take some part(s) off but it is getting close. This wasn't a translation, it was more like "flow" or whatever that tajunnanvirta thing is called in English.

It's just good to polish things up as much as possible before they're judged :)

2006-10-19 [RiddleRose]: oh, right. i think perhaps the eyeball used to be an old british lady, and she fell asleep in her tea one fine day, and drowned in it. killing the tea in the process, which is why she has tea as a ghost. and who knows why she's an eyeball? perhaps she's eccentric. or maybe, as her head fell toward the fatal cup of tea, the spoon gouged out her eye, thus saving the life of the old lady by waking her, but killing the eye and the tea. thus, it is an eye, and an eye only. voila, the end.

You should have seen me a few years back when I discovered contests. No one could have stopped me from an overabundance of idiot bureacratic rules and deadlines.... time and laziness fixed that, and sense took over.
If someone wants to enter now... the more the merrier, and who better than to ignore silly rules and deadlines than me, as the creator of the contest? :P
